How to Insert a Text Box in Google Docs

Inserting text boxes in Google Docs allows you to add custom formatting and design elements to your documents. Here are six ways to insert a comment box in Google Docs.

1. From Within the Text

Select the word or phrase where you want to insert the text box. Right-click on the selected text and select 'Comment' from the shortcut menu. A comment bubble will appear in the right margin.

2. From the Right Margin

Click on the Comment button in the right margin of your Google Doc. This will open a text box where you can enter your comment.

3. From the Toolbar

Go to the toolbar and click on the 'Comment' button (see figure 7). A comment bubble will appear, and you can start typing your comment.

4. From the Insert Tab

Go to the 'Insert' tab in the toolbar and select 'Comment' from the drop-down menu.

5. From the Comment History

You can also insert a new comment from the Comment History section of your Google Doc. Select the comment bubble in the right margin, and then click on the 'Reply' button.

6. With a Keyboard Shortcut

You can use a keyboard shortcut to insert a comment box in Google Docs. Press Ctrl + Shift + C (Windows) or Command + Shift + C (Mac) to open a new comment box.

Once you have inserted a text box, you can start typing your comment. You can also format the text and add images, links, and other elements as needed.

Remember that resolved comments will still appear in the Comment History section of your Google Doc. To resolve a comment, select the check mark in the comment bubble or the Comment History section, and enter your reply in the text box. Select the 'Reply' button to send the reply back to the commenter.
